History of the Early Ford V8 Club
The Early Ford V8 Club of America was founded in San Leandro, California in 1963. The club honors Ford cars built between 1932 and 1954, the last year for the flathead V8 engine in Canadian Ford cars. The National Club has 125 active regional groups worldwide and has more than 9,000 members.
Our Regional Group 120 was started by a group of like minded flathead Ford enthusiasts in March of 1983. Our club celebrated our 40th Anniversary in 2023 and was recognized for our many contributions to the collector car hobby by the Greater Vancouver Motorsport Pioneer Society. Since 2001, when the GVMPS was founded, 22 of our members have been recognized for their countless hours of volunteer work and their personal contributions to motorsport in British Columbia.
For 37 years we have held our annual Hougen Park Old Car Picnic in Abbotsford. This turned out to be one of the most popular car shows in south western British Columbia, welcoming hundreds of all makes and models of vintage and classic vehicles.
For over 25 years we were one of four clubs that organized the Fathers Day Old Car Sunday in the Park show in Mission, with proceeds supporting Variety Club.
The Lions Gate V8 newsletter has been recognized internationally for the quality and content of the monthly publication. From flathead history, classified and how to articles, there is something for any early Ford flathead enthusiast.
